The Fisherwomen design was inspired by Japanese Edo Period woodcuts and Kimono patterns that I drew then created a pattern depicting the women fishing on that wonderful classic wooden boat of that time, wearing the most interesting kimonos and straw skirts. As a scarf designer I often look at historical paintings for inspiration. The center figure was drawn as a kind of superwoman with outstretched arms in her kimono where the botanicals grow from her cloak to the outer composition. The bright orange poppies are at one corner and the gorgeous rich teal green at the other. How you decide to fold this scarf will determine the dominant color visible while worn. The inspiration for this design was from a photo a friend took of these flowers hanging from her rear view mirror in her car! I just loved the image and asked if I could paint it and use it as a design for a scarf, she said Sure! The colors on this scarf are so rich and beautiful it has been one of our best sellers for “people” so now I’m offering it in the pet collection so both of you can shine in style together!!!

This design is one from the scarves I hand painted on velvet in the 1990’s. Initially it was inspired by the artworks of Paul Klee. The grays and black make it a great neutral for any and everyone to wear, but especially a black haired dog! This design is also great for men, as well as women.

This design was inspired by illustrations from the 1950’s. I really love experimenting with odd color combinations and when I stumbled upon this combo I knew right away it was a hit! The red really pops on that rich chocolate bronze brown, and the little yellow floating buds give it a happy dancing feeling all over the scarf. This looks so great on red haired dogs! It will look great on you too!

The Horses were inspired by the Indian miniature paintings in the Mughal style from the 16th & 17th century. As a scarf designer I often look at historical paintings for inspiration. This particular design is also blended with imagery interpreted from traditional Chinoiserie Blue pottery patterning. I hope you enjoy this pattern for yourself and your loving pet.

This design was first painted on velvet and then digitized to be printed onto silk. The robins egg blue is my favorite part of the design, and when worn by a dark haired dog you can see them anywhere they run to, near or far. It will look great on you too wearing anything black, white, or navy.

This design was inspired by all the hydrangeas surrounding me all summer where I live in the Hamptons in Eastern Long Island. I wanted to make sure the blue was as rich as the flowers truly are in real life. Flowers are always an inspiration for many of my designs over the years. This design will look so lovely on a white dog!!!

This design was first painted on velvet when I had my wholesale business in NYC in the 1990’s. While I lost most all my samples on 9/11 because my studio was across the street from the south tower, this scarf was among the few I had recovered. I was able to archive it and reinterpret it for the silk square. This will look great on white haired dogs and darker hair dogs. It will look great on you too!

Tahiti Blues design was inspired by a towel my daughter brought back from New Zealand. I had fun giving the shapes a not-so-perfect edge, which makes the design feel hand made, like a woodcut. I’m always trying to keep my artists’ hand visible and apparent in all my designs! I am a one woman operation, and I am always trying to keep things updated to the site, but not always able to get everything there.
